On Sept 22nd, WIREDCamp will bring together communicators, policy-makers and technologists from across the public sector to tackle this question. The public sector includes non-profits and NGOs.
Unlike traditional conferences, WIREDCamp asks its participants to decide the focus. The day is divided up into a series of sessions that explore the theme in a variety of ways. Each session is documented online as it happens. WIREDCamp is organized by WIRED an OPS-wide group and meeting series that was formed to encourage collaboration across departments and ministries to share their ideas and successes in web innovation. WIREDcamp is inspired by ChangeCamp, a movement to answer the question “How do we re-imagine government and citizenship in the age of participation?” that has caught national attention. Registration for WIREDcamp also allows you to attend Showcase Ontario, an annual IT focused trade show put on by the Ontario government. Register for ShowcaseOntario It's a special event and the code is SC2009. The actual event code is SSEWIR11N. Having troubles? contact darren.chartier (at) ontario.ca cheers Susie Floresco |

I haven't cruised through all the posting so maybe you gave a post-event summary but I'm curious how this went. Finding better ways to structure conferences is something I'm always interested in and I wondered how the WIREDCamp worked out. I think it is a small tragedy when a group of very bright and committed people gather, hear from one or two key people, have a smattering of conversations and then disperse. There is so much more to be done with finding ways of organizing conferences that allow better lateral connecting among those who are there.
