Social Media Week (http://socialmediaweek.org/) is from Feb. 1-5th 2010, and takes place simultaneously in Toronto, New York City, Berlin, London, San Francisco, and Sao Paulo.

On Wednesday, Feb 3, starting at noon, the following workshops will be held during Social Media Week in Toronto (http://smw-toronto.sched.org/).

12 noon - 2.30 pm: "Why you need to Wiki as part of your Social Media Initiative and How," presented by Citadel Rock Online Communities (http://citadelrock.com/)

Wikis are an integral part of social media but it is often a more involved process to set one up, compared to simpler tools like blogs. However, the benefits of having a wiki can far outweigh the costs of implementation. An effective social media strategy incorporating wikis can lower the cost of product support, enhance customer loyalty, and streamline partner relationships especially in areas such as training and collaboration.

Discover what it takes to successfully roll-out a wiki project, the pitfalls to avoid, and how to integrate wikis to the rest of your social media initiatives

3.30 pm to 6 pm: "Navigating the world of user generated content,"presented by Virtual EyeSee (http://www.virtualeyesee.com/blog/)

Everyone has an opinion and some like to share this with others online. This sharing of information is referred to as user generated content (UGC) and can be found in places like blogs, social networks, micro blogs, forums, wikis etc. The amount of UGC is increasing rapidly and is now part of the communications/marketing mix.

Many people set up a blog, Twitter, Facebook accounts and then go now what?  This workshop explores this topic and ends with an live case study based on audience participation.
