The majority of those in work are
Knowledge Workers, employees who deal in information, ideas, and expertise. Our event, Knowledge Workers Toronto, is dedicated to improving the working lives of knowledge workers, by exploring and addressing issues that affect their effectiveness.
Last month's attendance and subsequent signups show we have attracted diverse participants from across the Knowledge Management industry. Indeed, to date we have 126
members, spanning the domains of librarians, collaboration practitioners, PhDs, & strategists.
While the organizers have set the reason for us to meet, we've a stellar group. So, we're keen to find and explore our common interests and arrive at a common vision and vibrant community tone.
So,
this month, we feature you, our members, in an Open Space session with the help of professional facilitator Meg Salter. Our topic "Knowledge Workers Anonymous," will have you "confess" what traps you and have you share your best tricks. Together, we will tap our collective wisdom and arrive at a plan that best empowers the Knowledge Workers of Toronto.
Failing that, we'll have another engaging and fun discussion, and come up with a speaker series plan for the remainder of 2009. ;)
Come, join us on Feb 25th to:
- Share your views on what improvements to knowledge environments make work easier
- Share your stories of what tools and processes you've used, and which have worked and which have failed
- Delve into what ideas about knowledge work our co-workers understand, and what few key messages to convey to remedy
This session will be facilitated by Meg Salter, an experienced management consultant and facilitator. Meg has worked extensively with private, public and non-profit organizations in Toronto, the GTA, and across Canada and the USA. Meg will use facilitation techniques based on Integral Institute methodologies and the AQAL Map.

Facilitation will begin promptly at 7:00pm and will be a hands-on activity somewhat incompatible with eating :)A message from our meeting space sponsor, The Ferret and Firkin: they happily provide the meeting facilities to us at no cost, however, they do ask that attendees order food and drink.
